Is it just gunshots or in general? if the latter, try this, after launching the game, minimize it, open volume settings on taskbar, press "mixer", then look for red dead and change the volume from there. Since the last update, on launch, game volume auto sets to minimal instead of being in line with master volume. VikVinegur • 3 yr. ago.
For me, in linux, setting the audio latency to 60ms fixed it. At least for the minimal time i have tested it. I had severe crackling before so maybe it helps. I have set it as a launch option but this one wont work on windows so either find a windows equivalent or set the latency in windows before starting the game.

This has been working the past 3-4 hours. No more crashing. For now all seems to work for me. Thank you! Much appreciated.
Fix 1: Run as administrator. Run both your launcher and Red Dead Redemption 2 to grant full access to your game files.
